Certificate III in Hairdressing

Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as hairdressers working as part of a team in a hairdressing environment, and who are competent in communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services, and designing and applying a broad range of technical hairdressing services on clients.

These individuals possess a range of well-developed skills where discretion and judgement is required and are responsible for their own outputs.

Mode of study

Teaching is conducted in the classroom as well as in training salon when required to simulate real work environment. The delivery may include face to face teaching, lectures, discussions, field trips, research, learning activities, group work, supervised practical sessions at the Institute’s Commercial Salon.

Course Duration

 1 Year

Entry Requirements

 

Individuals would need to fulfil the following requirements:
  • Aged 18 years or above
  • Successful completion of Year 10 or the equivalent level of study
  • Successful completion of LLN test

Possible Employment Opportunities

On successful completion of the Certificate III in Hairdressing, the graduates will obtain basic skills and knowledge to to commence work as a hairdresser and it will qualify you to treat, cut, colour and style hair, coordinate a salon team and sell salon products and services.

 

 Certificate IV in Hairdressing

Description

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior hairdressers who develop complex technical skills and knowledge working as part of or coordinating a salon team. It includes senior hairdressers who work as technical advisers with a hairdressing products company; or independently as a freelance session stylist.

Teaching is conducted in the classroom as well as in training salon when required to simulate real work environment. The delivery may include face to face teaching, lectures, discussions, field trips, research, learning activities, group work, supervised practical sessions at the Institute’s Commercial Salon.

Course Duration

 6 Months

Entry Requirements

 

Individuals would need to fulfil the following requirements:
  • Aged 18 years or above
  • Successful completion of Year 10 or the equivalent level of study
  • Successful completion of LLN test
  • Successful completion of Cert III in Hairdressing or equivalent.

Possible Employment Opportunities

After completing the Certificate IV in Hairdressing, this course enables you to get a job role as a Senior Hairdresser.

 

Diploma of Salon Management

Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in managing the overall operation of a business involved in services and sales delivery in personal services environments, including, hairdressing and beauty salons and spas. A salon manager at this level may focus on building the business, creating and establishing a personal services culture, leading and developing a team, developing and implementing marketing activities, and ensuring all occupational health and safety requirements are maintained.

Mode of study

Teaching is conducted in the classroom as well as in practical labs when required to simulate real work environment.The delivery may include face to face teaching, lectures, discussions, field trips, research, learning activities, group work, supervised practical sessions at the Institute’s Commercial Salon.

 6 Months

Individuals would need to fulfil the following requirements:
  • Aged 18 years or above
  • Successful completion of Year 10 or the equivalent level of study
  • Successful completion of LLN test

Possible Employment Opportunities

On successful completion of the Diploma of Salon Management; the graduates will obtain the ultimate hairdressing qualification that provides with the knowledge and ability to manage a salon or own and operate own salon.
